Camilla har lång erfarenhet av kommunal fysisk planering och deltagandeprocesser för hållbar utveckling ur ett landskapsperspektiv. Doktorsavhandlingen handlar om hur kommunal översiktsplanering kan förbättras som verktyg för landskapsplanering och samhällsutveckling, främst i landsbygdskommuner, genom utvecklade deltagandeprocesser och ökad integrering av kunskap om de lokala naturresurserna och nyttjandet av dessa. Frånvaron av skogsresursen och skogsägarna i den kommunala planeringen, liksom potentialen med att integrera det skogliga perspektivet i planeringen lyfts som belysande exempel.
